Reading Yukio Mishima

We are pushing on successfully with the theme of Japanese authors. The latest read was The Sailor who fell from Grace with the Sea by Yukio Mishima. I did not know about Mishima when I purchased this book. I just happened to see some titles by Mishima in a random bookstore I visited. I chose from among the selection of titles by the author. It was noted at the time of purchase that the back cover explanations of the stories all sounded quite depressing. So I opted for the shortest book by Mishima.

And thank goodness.  Any book that has a graphic scene of kids killing and skinning a kitten should come with a warning sticker on the front cover notifying explicitly and disturbing content inside.

The guy in the photo (Mishima?) looks like a Japanese version of Anthony Quinn… but with way hairier forearms.
